Body
BACKGROUND

This item will allow for the purchase of one three-dimensional (3D) modeling scanner for the Police Department's Traffic Division. The scanner enables Accident Investigators to reconstruct accident scenes digitally in a 3D diagram for use as evidence in courtroom testimony. The 3D scanner can capture 1 million points per second, allowing evidence to be captured and recorded to scale in minutes. This efficient collection of data permits investigators to process an accident scene and open roads rapidly. The scanner features a one button scan control, allowing for ease of use by placing the scanner in position and using the one button control to capture the entire scene.

The Department of Information Resources cooperative agreement is authorized by Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code and Subchapter F, Chapter 271, Texas Local Government Code. Section 271.102 of the Texas Local Government Code which authorizes a local government to participate in a Cooperative Purchasing Program with another local government or a local cooperative organization.
