BACKGROUND

Flooding and drainage concerns have been identified at various locations within the city of Dallas impacting citizens, properties, and existing infrastructure. This action will authorize a construction services contract with SYB Construction Co., Inc. to provide infrastructure improvements to address these issues at three locations. The locations include North Edgefield Avenue from Kessler Parkway to Kessler Court, Hughes Lane at Kalani Place, and Rawlins Street from Douglas Avenue to Throckmorton Street. The project also includes water main replacements in Knight Street from Rawlins Street to Lemmon Avenue.

Drainage improvements along North Edgefield Avenue include the installation of a 21-inch storm drain and energy dissipation solutions near the drainage outfall along Kessler Parkway to decrease the velocity of storm water runoff. At Hughes Lane, proposed improvements include the installation of storm drainage infrastructure ranging from 24-inch pipe to 7-foot by 7-foot reinforced concrete box culvert to address flooding near the intersection of Hughes Lane and Kalani Place.
