BACKGROUND
On November 13, 2020, two bids were received for the construction of the Martin Luther King Jr. Playground Replacement Project. This item authorizes the award of this construction services contract to Joel Brown & Co. LLC dba J.B. & Co. LLC, lowest responsible bidder of two for the Base Bid only in the amount of $239,000.00.
The scope of work for the Martin Luther King Jr. Playground Replacement Project includes playground replacements for expansion and replacement of playground equipment, fencing, grading, concrete work and establishment of ground cover.
Joel Brown & Co. LLC dba J.B. & Co. LLC has had no contractual activities with the City of Dallas for the past three years.

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On October 10, 2019, the Park and Recreation Board, Planning and Design Committee was briefed on construction procurement.
On March 4, 2021, the Park and Recreation Board authorized a construction contract with J Joel Brown & Co. LLC dba J.B. & Co. LLC for the construction of the Martin Luther King Jr. Playground Replacement Project located at 2901 Pennsylvania Avenue.
