BACKGROUND
This action will authorize the City Manager to execute Interlocal Agreements (ILAs) to occupy, utilize, maintain, and share premises for the install, operation, and maintenance of necessary facilities and/or equipment with various cities to complete the project without taking each ILA to City Council for approval. These necessary and time sensitive agreements would involve allowing the City to construct radio towers and small buildings on property owned by other cities or counties. ILAs will also be used as the agreement to install City of Dallas radio equipment on a jurisdiction's existing radio tower. The individual ILAs, if authorized by the City Manager, will not request any new appropriations and will only be representative of the installation sites the City is required to secure for the P25 Radio System Project under this authority
It is anticipated the City will execute ILAs with the following cities: Desoto, Mesquite, Fort Worth, and Sachse.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On December 12, 2012, City Council authorized an Interlocal Agreement with Dallas County for the participation in the design and implementation of a new P25 compliant trunk radio system by Resolution No. 12-3046.
