Body

BACKGROUND

On April 28, 2021, the City of Dallas Council approved a consultant contract to update the original 2006 forwardDallas! Plan. As stated in Sections 51-1.108 and 51A-1.108 of the Dallas Development Code, “The purpose of this comprehensive plan is to promote sound development of the city and promote the public health, safety, and welfare. The comprehensive plan is a plan for the long-range development of the city. The comprehensive plan sets forth policies to govern the future physical development of the city. The comprehensive plan shall serve as a guide to all future city council action concerning land use and development regulations, urban conservation and rehabilitation programs, and expenditures for capital improvements.”

ForwardDallas 2.0 is a refreshed guide that considers how the city of Dallas has evolved over the past two decades and how it should plan for its future. It identifies opportunities to support the City's sustainable growth, address environmental justice concerns, and improve the quality of life for new, prospective, and existing residents who have made Dallas their home for decades.
