Body
On November 5, 2024, Dallas residents voted to adopt Dallas City Charter Chapter IXA. Dallas City Charter Chapter lXA, Section 1 provides for the appointment of an Inspector General who shall be a competent practicing attorney of recognized ability and a certified Inspector General, who shall be appointed by a majority vote of all the members of the City Council, and who shall hold office for a period of two years and thereafter until a successor is appointed, unless sooner discharged by the City Council.
On September 24, 2025, the City Council appointed Baron Eliason as Interim Inspector General, effective at the close of business on September 26, 2025, to serve until City Council selects and appoints the Inspector General with an annual base salary of $150,000.00, by Resolution No. 25-1578.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On October 6, 2026, the Ad Hoc Committee on Administrative Affairs recommended Baron Eliason for the Inspector General position for consideration by City Council.
