Title
An ordinance amending Chapter 28, “Motor Vehicles and Traffic,” of the Dallas City Code by amending Sections 28-44, 28-45, and 28-50 (1) designating speed regulations on streets other than expressways and freeways; (2) designating speed regulations on expressways and freeways; (3) designating school traffic zones; (4) providing a penalty not to exceed $200.00; (5) providing a saving clause; (6) providing a severability clause; and (7) providing an effective date - Financing: This action has no cost consideration to the City (see Fiscal Information)

BACKGROUND
Engineering studies have been conducted at the locations identified below, and it is recommended that the appropriate sections of the Dallas City Code be amended to reflect changes in speed limits and school zone locations.
The changes below identify the additions to Section 28-44:
SEC. 28-44 STREETS OTHER THAN EXPRESSWAYS AND FREEWAYS. ADDITIONS (MPH Varies)
Street Name, Extent, Council District, Speed (MPH), Cause
• Street-Mountain Creek Parkway, Extent-Grady Niblo Road to W Illinois Avenue, CD-3, Speed-45, Cause-Adding speed limit to City Code to reflect existing conditions. Engineering study was conducted and supports this speed limit.
The changes below identify the additions to Section 28-45:

DELETIONS (20 MPH)

• Street- Lynbrook Drive (9700), Extent-80' N. of Walnut Hill Lane to 100' S. of Chesterton Drive, CD-10, Cause-Adjusting school zone limits to extend the school zone further east along Walnut Hill Lane
• Street- Sunnyvale Street (4700-4800), Extent-500'S. to 150'N. of Cummings Avenue, CD-4, Cause-Dallas Independent School District informed that the facility is no longer operating as a school
• Street- Walnut Hill Lane (10100-10400), Extent-270' W. of Ferndale Road to 120' W. of Livenshire Drive, CD-10, Cause-Adjusting school zone limits to extend the school zone further east along Walnut Hill Lane

FISCAL INFORMATION
This action has no cost consideration to the City. Ordinance enforcement of penalty up to $200.00 may generate additional revenues to the City.
