Body

BACKGROUND

The Dallas Police Department (DPD) seeks to strengthen the resiliency, mental well-being, and long-term wellness of its peace officers through a comprehensive wellness initiative that includes Resilient Leader Training, trauma informed counseling, and Hold the Line instructor certification. The initiative will provide resiliency and trauma awareness training to around 120 participants, offer trauma informed counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches, and certify six sworn peer-support and wellness team members to deliver a law enforcement-specific resilience curriculum. Collectively, these services will enhance DPD capacity to address the unique stressors associated with law enforcement, reduce barriers to seeking support, promote officer wellness and retention, and establish sustainable in-house resources to support the DPD workforce.
