BACKGROUND
On June 23, 2021, the City Council authorized the construction services contract with Vescorp Construction, LLC dba Chavez Concrete Cutting for the construction of Montfort Drive from Interstate Highway 635 (IH 635) Frontage Road to Alpha Road by Resolution No. 21-1095.
The scope of the project includes replacing the existing deteriorating street with reinforced concrete pavement, storm drainage, water and wastewater improvements, concrete sidewalk, shared-use concrete path, buffered bike lane, street and pedestrian lighting, traffic signals, pavement markings, speed cushions and pedestrian enhancements.
Construction began on March 17, 2023. However, unforeseen site conditions were encountered that made it necessary to increase the proposed pavement thickness from 11-inch to 12-inch and make the associated changes to the storm drainage system.
This action will authorize Change Order No. 1 to the construction services contract with Vescorp Construction, LLC dba Chavez Concrete Cutting for additional paving and drainage improvements needed to complete the construction of Monfort Drive from IH 635 Frontage Road to Alpha Road.
Vescorp Construction, LLC dba Chavez Concrete Cutting, a Dallas-based corporation, operating within the corporate city limits of Dallas, Texas.
