BACKGROUND

 

This item authorizes the second step of acquisition for condemnation by eminent domain to acquire from James T. Henrise and Glinda Henrise, (1) a fee simple interest of approximately 76,181 square feet of land and (2) a slope easement of a total of approximately 10, 630 square feet of land located near the intersection of University Hills Boulevard and Wheatland Road. An offer was presented to the property owner on July 12, 2024 reflecting the appraised value and the City’s offer was declined. Negotiations between the City and the property owner have been ongoing through May 8, 2025 and no amicable agreement has been reached.

 

The first resolution approved on April 23, 2025, by Resolution No. 25-0629, authorized the purchase in the amount of $206,100.00. This property will be used for the Wheatland Road Extension Project

 

No relocation benefits are associated with this acquisition.

 

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

 

On April 23, 2025, City Council authorized acquisition from James T. Henrise and Glinda Henrise, 1) acquisition in fee simple interest of approximately 76,181 square feet of land and 2) acquisition in slope easement of a total of approximately 10, 630 square feet of land located near the intersection of University Hills Boulevard and Wheatland Road for the Wheatland Road Extension Project by Resolution 25-0629.
