BACKGROUND
This item authorizes the second step of acquisition for condemnation by eminent domain to acquire a drainage easement from Heather J. Heflin, of approximately 675 square feet of land located at 2424 Knight Street near its intersection with Sylvester Avenue for the Throckmorton-Reagan Drainage Improvements Project. This property will be used for the purpose of improving the storm drainage system to address flooding in the area. The consideration is based on an independent appraisal. There are no relocation benefits associated with this acquisition. Negotiations between the City and the property owner are ongoing and to date, no amicable agreement has been reached.
The first resolution approved on May 22, 2024, by Resolution No. 24-0795, authorized the purchase in the amount of $29,844.00, based upon an independent appraisal. This property will be used for storm drainage improvements associated with the Throckmorton-Reagan Drainage Improvement Project.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On May 22, 2024, the City Council authorized the acquisition of a drainage easement from Heather Heflin for approximately 675 square feet of land located at 2424 Knight Street near its intersection with Sylvester Avenue for the Throckmorton-Reagan Drainage Improvements Project by Resolution No. 24-0795.
