Title
A resolution (1) authorizing an increase in the joint election agreement and election services contract between the City of Dallas, Dallas County, and various other jurisdictions within Dallas County, for the conduct of a runoff election to be held Saturday, June 7, 2025; and (2) an increase in appropriations in an amount not to exceed $412,936.00 in the City Secretary’s Office from General Fund Contingency Reserve - Not to exceed $412,935.50, from $1,033,010.75 to $1,445,946.25 - Financing: General Fund Contingency Reserve (see Fiscal Information)

BACKGROUND
Chapter 31, Subchapter D of the Texas Election Code provides the City may contract with the county elections administrator for certain election services. The Elections Administrator must provide an estimate of the election cost to be deposited in a general election services contract fund. The resolution which authorized the joint election contract for May 3, 2025 provided that, in the event a runoff election becomes necessary, the Elections Administrator would provide the City (and any other jurisdictions holding a runoff) with an estimate of additional election expenses. An increase for the City Secretary's Elections budget is necessary to cover the current estimated additional cost of the contract for a runoff election.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On February 26, 2025, City Council authorized a joint election agreement and election services contract between the City of Dallas, Dallas County, and various other jurisdictions within Dallas County for the conduct of a joint election to be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, by Resolution No. 25-0388.
