Body

BACKGROUND

On June 12, 2024, the City Council authorized a construction services contract with TREG Erosion Control Specialists, LLC for the installation of erosion control improvements at four locations: 17610, 17612 and 17614 Squaw Valley Drive; 3604 and 3610 Kiestcrest Drive; Anderson Bonner Park - Location No. 1; and Anderson Bonner Park - Location No. 2. The improvements included the installation of gabion walls and mattresses to protect existing structures and critical infrastructure and minimize creek bank erosion.  At Anderson Bonner Park, both the Dallas Water Utilities Department (DWU) and the Parks & Recreation Department identified improvements needed to protect existing storm drainage outfalls and fortify the existing creek bank to protect park property from further erosion.

During implementation of the proposed improvements, it was determined that additional construction quantities were necessary to properly address site conditions and increased erosion since the engineering plans were completed. The affected locations include 3604, 3610 Kiestcrest Drive, Anderson Bonner Park - Location No. 1, and Anderson Bonner Park - Location No. 2.

This action will authorize an increase in the construction services contract with TREG Erosion Control Specialists, LLC for the additional work. The additional work includes materials for gabions walls, gabion anchors, and design modifications due to site condition changes at the time of construction. An additional 90 working days will be added to the contract to complete the additional work.  Approval of the contract increase will ensure that the work can be completed to deliver the proposed erosion control improvements, protect adjacent structures, and safeguard infrastructure from future erosion.
