Title

Authorize a construction services contract for the installation of water and wastewater mains at 14 locations (list attached to the Agenda Information Sheet) - Douglas Dailey Construction, LLC, lowest responsible bidder of six - Not to exceed $14,368,706.00 - Financing: Water (Drinking Water) - TWDB 2022 Fund ($11,621,206.00) and Wastewater (Clean Water) - TWDB 2022 Fund ($2,747,500.00)

Body

BACKGROUND

This action will authorize a construction services contract with Douglas Dailey Construction, LLC for the installation of approximately 34,170 feet of water and wastewater mains. This includes the installation of approximately 350 feet of 6-inch, 13,550 feet of 8-inch, 330 feet of 12-inch, and 3,790 feet of 16-inch diameter water mains; and approximately 15,530 feet of 8-inch, 440 feet of 12-inch, and 180 feet of 16-inch diameter wastewater mains.

The existing water and wastewater mains were built between 1902 and 1963. The existing mains are contributing to an increase in maintenance costs as well as service interruptions. The existing wastewater mains also contribute to inflow and infiltration into the wastewater collection system, resulting in wastewater overflows and high maintenance costs. The proposed installations will improve the capacity of the water and wastewater systems, reduce maintenance costs, and improve water quality.
