BACKGROUND
This action does not encumber funds; the purpose of a service contract is to establish firm pricing for services, for a specific term, which are ordered on an as needed basis.
This Supplemental Agreement will provide for continued maintenance and support for the City's 9-1-1 telephone system infrastructure. This agreement provides required software patches, upgrades and network monitoring.
The current phone system infrastructure serving the 9-1-1 call center receives more than 2.1 million calls per year. This infrastructure is an integral part of providing mission critical services to residents of Dallas. The system feeds critical 9-1-1 call information to the Computer Aided Dispatch system when dispatching emergency services. Continuous maintenance and support of this system is a fundamental and vital component for the delivery of public safety.
On November 10, 2015, the City Council authorized a living wage policy that requires contractors to pay their employees a “living wage” rate as established annually by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Living Wage Calculator for Dallas County by Resolution No. 15-2141.
