BACKGROUND
On October 9, 2024, the City of Dallas released Request for Qualifications CIZ24-PBW-3124 to provide professional services, as described in Section II, Project Description, related to Streets, Alleys, Sidewalks, Trails, Special Services including Traffic Signals, Street Lighting/Pedestrian Lighting, Permanent Traffic Signs, Bicycle Lane Design, Traffic Studies, Data Gathering, Permanent Paving Markings, Intersection Improvements, and Railroad Quiet Zones Establishment Process in various locations within the City of Dallas.
This action will authorize a professional engineering services contract with Westwood Professional Services, Inc for the design of following projects:
Project Council District

Second Avenue from Fitzhugh Avenue to US 175 5, 7
Gaston Avenue from Washington Avenue to Paulus Avenue 2, 14
These corridors are on the Vision Zero High Injury Network (HIN). The HIN identifies the city streets that account for a disproportionate number of fatal and severe crashes. To have the greatest impact on reaching the City’s Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and reducing severe injuries, these streets should be prioritized in Vision Zero efforts. The first action item in the Vision Zero Action Plan is to conduct engineering safety evaluations for streets on the HIN to identify improvements that will address the severe crashes. These projects are a crucial step to advancing the City’s Vision Zero goal.
This action will authorize a professional engineering services contract with Westwood Professional Services, Inc to conduct a traffic safety analysis and other associated tasks to improve traffic safety and efficiency.
