BACKGROUND

 

This item, on behalf of the Office of Community Care and Empowerment, authorizes a five-year lease agreement with Esperanza Community Center at Dobie Local Government Corporation, Inc., for approximately 5,571 square feet of clinic and office space located at 14040 Rolling Hills Lane. This lease will provide a Women, Infants and Children (“WIC”) Clinic to serve the residents in the North Central Dallas area.

 

The WIC Program is a United States Department of Agriculture program administered in Texas by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. The countywide program has been administered by the City of Dallas since 1974 and is overseen by the Office of Community Care and Empowerment. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for WIC Program provides nutritious foods through Electronic Benefits Transfer cards redeemed at local grocery stores, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to health services. The program serves pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants and children under age five.

 

The lease will begin on December 1, 2025 through November 30, 2030.
