An ordinance approving Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Board Resolution No. 2026-08-207, adopted on August 6, 2026, for the purpose of amending Appendix 1 of the Code of Rules and Regulations of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Board to reduce the posted speed limit on blocks 1500 through 3400 (north and south) of International Parkway from 55 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour - Financing: No cost consideration to the City (This item was deferred on September 9, 2026)

BACKGROUND
Dallas-Fort Worth Airport International Airport Board is requesting that the Owner Cities of Dallas and Fort Worth approve an amendment to Appendix 1 of the Code of Rules and Regulations of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Board to reduce the posted speed limit on portions of International Parkway.
This action will approve revisions to Appendix 1 to reduce the speed limit on blocks 1500 through 3400, both northbound and southbound, from 55 mph to 45 mph.
DFW Airport Board is proposing the reduction to enhance safety within the high-density terminal area. The item was briefed and approved by the DFW Airport Board on August 6, 2026. Approval by the Owner Cities of Dallas and Fort Worth is required under the Contract and Agreement of 1968 for amendments to the Airport Board’s Code of Rules and Regulations. Attachments showing the proposed amendments and the approved Official Board Action will be provided for this agenda item.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On August 6, 2026, the DFW Board was briefed on the “International Parkway Speed Limit - Code item” and approved it.
On September 9, 2026, this item was on the City Council agenda as an ordinance to amend a previously approved ordinance and was deferred to the September 23, 2026, City Council agenda by Councilmember Paul E. Ridley and directed to re-notice as an ordinance approving Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Board Resolution No. 2026-07-27.
