Body

BACKGROUND

On August 24, 2022, the City Council authorized a Public Highway At-grade Crossing Improvement Agreement with the Union Pacific Railroad Company, for the widening, improvement and maintenance of the Chalk Hill Road at-grade public road crossing between lH-30 Frontage Road and Singleton Boulevard, by Resolution No. 22-1200.

Union Pacific Railroad Company has completed the upgrades needed for the widening of the Chalk Hill Road (North) Project within the limits of their right-of-way along Chalk Hill Road. However, due to inflation, the cost of the improvements exceeds the amount of $1,308,399.00 initially estimated for the project. Consequently, it is necessary to add the additional funding needed to compensate Union Pacific Railroad Company for the work they performed on this project.

This action will authorize a cost-overrun payment to Union Pacific Railroad Company (UPRR) for the Public Highway At-grade Crossing Improvement Agreement with Union Pacific Railroad Company (UPRR), to compensate UPRR for the additional funding needed for the upgrades UPRR performed at the Chalk Hill Road at-grade public road crossing, between IH-30 frontage road and Singleton Boulevard, in an amount not to exceed $700,000.00.
