Title
An ordinance amending Chapter 28, “Motor Vehicles and Traffic,” of the Dallas City Code by amending Sections 28-44, 28-50, and 28-59 (1) designating speed regulations on streets other than expressways and freeways; (2) designating school traffic zones; (3) designating one-way streets and alleys; (4) providing a penalty not to exceed $200.00; (5) providing a saving clause; (6) providing a severability clause; and (7) providing an effective date - Financing: This action has no cost consideration to the City (see Fiscal Information)

BACKGROUND
Engineering studies have been conducted at the locations identified in the ordinance amending Chapter 28 “Motor Vehicles and Traffic,” and it is recommended that the appropriate sections of the ordinance be amended to reflect changes in speed limits, school zone locations, and to designate one-way streets.
The below changes identify the additions and deletions to Section 28-44:
SEC. 28-44 STREETS OTHER THAN EXPRESSWAYS AND FREEWAYS. ADDITIONS (MPH Varies)

• Street-Elsie Faye Heggins Street, Extent-Botham Jean Boulevard to Spring Avenue, CD-7, Speed-35, Cause-Reflect street name change from Lamar Street to Botham Jean Boulevard and extend 35 mph speed zone limits to the signalized intersection at Spring Avenue
SEC. 28-44 STREETS OTHER THAN EXPRESSWAYS AND FREEWAYS. DELETIONS (MPH Varies)

• Street-N. Jim Miller Road (1400-1600), Extent-500’S. of Umphress Road to 300’S. of Seco Boulevard, CD-5, Cause- Extend school zone
• Street-Meandering Way (13400-13700), Extent-Purple Sage Road to 180’N. of Peyton Drive CD-11, Cause-RISD informed that the school is no longer operational
• Street-Spring Grove Avenue (13400-13600), Extent-150’W. of Meandering Way to 200’E. of Knollwood Drive, CD-11, Cause-RISD informed that the school is no longer operational
• Street-Vernon Avenue (2000-2300), Extent-100’S. of Ludlow Street to 150’S. of Ferndale Avenue, CD-1, Cause- Extend school zone to reflect the location of existing flashers
• Street-Wycliff Avenue (2500-2800), Extent-75’W. of Hartford Street to 350’E. of Maple Avenue, CD-2, 14, Cause-Reflect current conditions as the school zone is no longer operational

FISCAL INFORMATION
This action has no cost consideration to the City. Ordinance enforcement of penalty up to $200.00 may generate additional revenues to the City.
