Body
BACKGROUND
On June 22, 2022, the City Council authorized a professional services contract with Halff Associates, Inc. for the evaluation and design of erosion control and storm drainage system improvements at three locations. Two locations now require additional services following completion of engineering evaluations and preliminary engineering efforts. Those locations include Hardin Creek along Kiesthill Drive, Kiestcrest Drive, and Kiest Forest Drive, and McCommas Branch at Wendover Road and Sperry Street.
Full design of erosion control improvements were completed at the highest priority area of 3604 and 3610 Kiestcrest Drive and have been awarded for construction. Engineering evaluations and conceptual designs were completed along the 3300-3400 blocks of Kiesthill Drive and Kiest Forest Drive and funding is now available to move forward with detailed design for erosion control improvements. At McCommas Branch, additional services are needed for alternative analysis of Wendover and Sperry Street crossings to evaluate valley storage requirements, utility relocations, survey and easement document preparation, and cultural resource assessments to complete hydraulic improvements.
This action will authorize Halff Associates, Inc. to provide additional services necessary to complete engineering designs and develop final plans and specifications for drainage and erosion control improvements along Hardin Creek and two locations along McCommas Branch. The proposed design improvements will stabilize eroding stream banks and improve the existing drainage and flood control systems.
