Title
Authorize a professional engineering services contract with Freese and Nichols, Inc. to provide traffic signal design services for the five intersections as follows: South Beckley Avenue at Illinois Avenue, Corinth Street at East Eighth Street, Cotillion Drive at Ferguson Road, West Illinois Avenue at South Zang Boulevard, and Military Parkway at South Sam Houston Road - Not to exceed $500,406.00 - Financing: General Fund

BACKGROUND
On October 9, 2024, the City of Dallas released Request for Qualifications “CIZ24-PBW-3124 Streets and Transportation Design Services for Special Projects” for professional engineering services for various transportation infrastructure projects including streets, alleys, sidewalks, trails, and special services for traffic signals, street lighting/pedestrian lighting, permanent traffic signs, bicycle lane design, traffic studies, data gathering, permanent paving markings, intersection improvements, and railroad quiet zones.
This action will authorize a professional engineering services contract with Freese and Nichols, Inc. for the design of traffic signals at the following five intersections:
Intersection Council District
South Beckley Avenue at Illinois Avenue 4
Corinth Street at East Eighth Street 4
Cotillion Drive at Ferguson Road 9
West Illinois Avenue at South Zang Boulevard 4
Military Parkway at South Sam Houston Road 7
If approved, this action will authorize a professional engineering services contract with Freese and Nichols, Inc. to support the warranted installation or upgrade if traffic signal infrastructure at five intersections and conduct a traffic safety analysis and other associated tasks to improve traffic safety and efficiency, in an amount not to exceed $500,406.00.

PROCUREMENT INFORMATION
In accordance with the City of Dallas Administrative Directive 4-05 procurement guidelines, Freese and Nichols, Inc. were selected to provide traffic signal design and traffic safety study services for the five intersections.
