Body

BACKGROUND

This cooperative purchasing agreement will provide expanded device capacity and increased data transfer speed by replacing 1 Gigabyte routers with 10 Gigabyte routers at five specific locations to better accommodate network traffic.  The managed software-defined wide area network solution provides redundancy, security, backup functionality, disaster recovery, business continuity functionality, and augments our existing internet network connectivity throughout the selected sites.

Key Benefits:

Moves the City into compliance with an audit finding from the “IBM Data Center Study and Evaluation Services Physical Facility Assessment” (Item ID 3).

Ability to continue delivering key services despite a disaster striking the City.

Creates diversification of the City’s circuit provider to ensure a backup exists to the City’s current circuits.

The U.S. General Services cooperative agreement is authorized by Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code and Subchapter F, Chapter 271, Texas Local Government Code.  Section 271.102 of the Texas Local Government Code which authorizes a local government to participate in a Cooperative Purchasing Program with another local government or a local cooperative organization.
