BACKGROUND

 

This item will authorize position additions, deletions, reclassifications, upgrades, downgrades, and transfers as a result of revised program goals and budget decisions recently recommended to the City Council.

 

The FY 2026-27 budget includes a 2 percent merit increase for civilian non-executive staff effective in April 2027.

 

The FY 2026-27 budget includes adjustments to the fire and police pay schedules based on the market-based pay philosophy utilized since the 2019 Meet and Confer agreement plus an enhanced level as recommended by the City Manager to ensure starting pay plus non-pension benefits continues to rank Dallas among leaders within the region.

 

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

 

The City Council was briefed on the proposed FY 2026-27 Budget on August 11, 2026.

 

FISCAL INFORMATION

 

This action has no cost consideration to the City. All costs associated with this item is included as part of the FY 2026-27 budget.
