SUBJECT
Title
Authorize a five-year master agreement for the purchase of ductile iron pipe for the Dallas Water Utilities Department - Core & Main LP, only bidder - Estimated amount of $1,148,237.00 - Financing: Dallas Water Utilities Fund
Body
BACKGROUND
This action does not authorize or encumber funding. The master agreement establishes pre-negotiated pricing for a specified period of time. Actual expenditure will occur only when products/goods are requested and are supported by available departmental appropriations. The estimated amount represents the maximum anticipated value based on all potential usage scenarios during the contract term and is provided for planning purposes only. Actual expenditures may vary significantly and will be driven by operational needs. For reference, the City's average annual expenditure for these services over the past three years has been approximately $202,100.00 per year.
This master agreement will provide for the purchase of ductile iron pipe for the Dallas Water Utilities Department (DWU). This agreement will support the installation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of the City's potable water distribution infrastructure. Ductile iron pipe will be used for new water distribution installations and the replacement of aging, damaged, split, or corroded pipelines to ensure the continued delivery of safe and reliable drinking water throughout the City. Ductile iron pipe is a strong, durable, and corrosion-resistant material designed to withstand the stresses associated with shifting soil conditions commonly experienced in Texas. Its strength and flexibility make it a reliable material for maintaining the integrity and long-term performance of the City's water distribution system. This agreement will support DWU's ongoing efforts to maintain critical water infrastructure, minimize service disruptions, and ensure the reliable distribution of potable water to residents and businesses.
As part of the solicitation process and in an effort to increase competition, the Office of Procurement Services used its procurement system to send out email notifications to vendors registered under relevant commodity codes. To further increase competition, the Office of Procurement Services uses historical solicitation information, the Internet, and vendor contact information obtained from user departments to contact additional vendors.
