BACKGROUND

 

This action will authorize a professional services contract with Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc., to develop construction documents for flood management and storm drainage improvements in the El Tivoli Neighborhood along Plymouth Road. The planned improvements will occur at 4 locations, including El Tivoli Drive at Reverchon Drive, Plymouth Road between Avon Street and Bahama Drive, the El Tivoli Branch culvert at Plymouth Road, and the Lafayette Heights Branch culvert at Plymouth Road. A drainage relief system will be designed to improve the existing storm drainage in the El Tivoli Neighborhood at Reverchon Drive, two culverts along Plymouth Road at El Tivoli Branch and Lafayette Heights Branch will be upgraded to address roadway overtopping during storm events, and existing pipe crossings and outfalls will be upgraded along Plymouth Road from Avon to Bahama. The proposed improvements will address flooding issues attributed to inadequate storm drain infrastructure in the El Tivoli neighborhood and Plymouth Road

 

The services provided for this contract include project management, topographic and boundary surveys, easement identification and preparation of survey instruments as needed, subsurface utility exploration, geotechnical investigations, structural analysis, drainage studies including hydrologic and hydraulic stream and storm drain system modeling, development of conceptual and preliminary construction plans, and development of final construction plans and special specifications.

 

The consulting firm for this project was selected following a qualifications-based selection process in accordance with City of Dallas Administrative Directive 4-05 procurement guidelines.
