body
BACKGROUND
The City of Dallas was awarded a grant from the 2016 Highway Safety Improvement Program administered by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), to reconstruct and install several traffic signals at high-accident intersections in the City of Dallas.
On June 14, 2017, City Council authorized payment for the design and engineering costs of the traffic signals that included a local match, in the amount of $110,500.00 identified as an additional local match in this action. Total local match required is $251,260.47.
TxDOT on-System Intersections:
• Preston Road at Campbell Road (CSJ 0091-06-059), (Upgrade), (CD 11,12)
• Buckner Boulevard at Lake June Road (CSJ 0581-01-146), (Upgrade), (CD 5)
• Buckner Boulevard at Forney Road (CSJ 0581-01-148), (Upgrade), (CD 7)
• Great Trinity Forest Way at Jim Miller Road (CSJ 0581-01-150), (Upgrade), (CD 8)
• Ledbetter Drive at Singing Hills Drive (CSJ 0581-01-151), (Upgrade), (CD 3, 4)
The traffic signals will be constructed over three years. The design commenced in Fiscal Year 2018 and the six traffic signals were let by TxDOT on June 4, 2020.
Due to large increases in material costs, primarily in traffic signal poles and concrete since the construction estimates were prepared in 2016, the lowest bid came in above projected estimates by $140,760.47.
ESTIMATED SCHEDULE OF PROJECT
Begin Construction January 2021
Complete Construction March 2022
