SUBJECT
Title
Authorize the purchase of a de-icer vehicle and equipment for the Department of Aviation with WAUSAU EQUIPMENT COMPANY, INC. through the Sourcewell cooperative agreement - Not to exceed $512,479.00 - Financing: Aviation Fund
Body
BACKGROUND
This action will allow for the purchase of a de-icer vehicle and equipment for the Department of Aviation. Maintaining continuous runway availability and ensuring aircraft safety is vital during severe winter weather events. The airport currently relies on an aging fleet that faces an increased risk of mechanical breakdown during critical weather conditions. This purchase will provide dependable operational redundancy while replacing the outdated de-icing equipment as the primary unit. This equipment will support the rapid and reliable application of runway de-icing fluid to prevent ice accumulation, minimize flight delays, and help maintain safe airport operations during major winter weather events.
The Sourcewell cooperative agreement is authorized by Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code and Subchapter F, Chapter 271, Texas Local Government Code. Section 271.102 of the Texas Local Government Code which authorizes a local government to participate in a Cooperative Purchasing Program with another local government or a local cooperative organization.
