Body

BACKGROUND

This item authorizes the conveyance of an easement and right-of-way containing approximately 4,120 square feet of land to Oncor Electric Delivery Company, LLC, for the construction, operation, maintenance, and use of power lines, power poles, and electric transformer facilities across City-owned property located near the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard Viaduct and Brazos Street.

The easement is required to provide permanent electrical service to the Charlie Pump Station, a critical component of the Dallas Floodway System. The City of Dallas and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have maintained a longstanding partnership through the Dallas Floodway Program to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain flood risk reduction infrastructure that protects residents, businesses, critical public infrastructure, and property from Trinity River flooding.

As part of this partnership, the City is responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of flood protection facilities, including pump stations that provide flood protection to adjacent neighborhoods and surrounding communities. Granting this easement will allow Oncor Electric Delivery Company, LLC, to install the electrical infrastructure necessary to support the reliable operation of the Charlie Pump Station, helping ensure the continued performance, reliability, and long-term resiliency of the City's flood protection system.
