Body

BACKGROUND

On September 11, 2024, the City Council authorized a construction services contract with Camino Construction, LP for the installation of water and wastewater main improvements at 21 locations. Prior to the beginning of construction at one of the locations, Reverchon Drive from Overcrest Street to Avon Street, it was determined that storm drainage improvements were needed to alleviate flooding in the area in addition to the proposed water and wastewater main improvements. To avoid excavation of recently restored pavement and to limit disruption to the public for multiple improvement projects, it was decided to delay the water and wastewater improvements and expedite the design of storm drainage improvements. The storm drainage improvements have been designed and will be installed under the same construction contract as the water and wastewater improvements.

This action will authorize an increase in the construction services contract with Camino Construction, LP, to include the proposed storm drainage system improvements in Reverchon Drive from Mateur Street to Avon Street. Camino Construction, LP, has provided an acceptable proposal to complete the additional work. The additional cost is less than the engineer’s opinion of probable cost and represents a good value for the storm drainage improvement work. The improvements include 24, 30, and 36-inch diameter storm drains, inlets, and a box culvert in Reverchon Drive, inlets and connecting storm drains in El Tivoli Drive and Overcrest Street, and a box culvert and outfall structure to Coombs Creek. Following completion of the utility work, Dallas Water Utilities will coordinate with Transportation and Public Works for paving restoration and paving improvements in the area.
