Body

BACKGROUND

This item will allow for the purchase of two Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometers with associated equipment and supplies. The Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer with associated equipment and supplies includes two G510 GC/MS; Field Ready Kits, which  enables the hazardous materials management teams to analyze all phases of matter (liquid, solid, vapor) by performing rapid field-confirmation of a chemical hazard. The G510 is capable of detecting explosives, environmental pollutants and Chemical Warfare Agents to include Novichok, which is a 4th generation chemical warfare agent.

Advanced testing instruments, such as gas chromatography and mass spectrometry devices allow for increased ability to detect and identify contaminants. Additionally, this equipment will provide advanced real-time field instruments for perimeter air monitoring.

The Department of Information Resources cooperative agreement is authorized by Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code and Subchapter F, Chapter 271, Texas Local Government Code. Section 271.102 of the Texas Local Government Code authorizes a local government to participate in a Cooperative Purchasing Program with another local government or a local cooperative organization.
