A public hearing to receive comments and to approve an ordinance granting a request to change the name of West Ledbetter Extension (West Ledbetter Ext.) between South Merrifield Road and Spur 408 to “Grady Niblo Road” - NC234-006 - Financing - No cost consideration to the City

BACKGROUND
On June 21, 2024, the City Manager received a memorandum signed by three Council members to consider an application for a street name change of West Ledbetter Extension (West Ledbetter Ext.) between South Merrifield Road and Spur 408 to “Grady Niblo Road”. The justifications for this application are provided in the attached City Council Memorandum.
West Ledbetter Extension was built by Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) as part of the Spur 408 project, this section of road will connect to the existing Grady Niblo Road east of Mountain Creek Parkway and will be consistent with the name of the corridor in the City of Dallas Thoroughfare.
On July 18, 2024, notification signs were put up along West Ledbetter Extension (West Ledbetter Ext.) between South Merrifield Road and Spur 408 in accordance with Section 51A-9.503(b) of the Dallas Development Code to change the street name to “Grady Niblo Road”.
The newspaper notice for the Subdivision Review Committee hearing was published on June 20, 2024. Notices were sent on June 19, 2024, to 6 property owners notifying them of the proposed street name change. The Subdivision Review Committee on Thursday August 8, 2024, by unanimous vote recommended approval of the Street Name Change.
The newspaper notice for the City Plan Commission hearing was published on September 16, 2024. Notices were sent on September 16, 2024, to 6 property owners notifying them of the proposed street name change. The City Plan Commission on Thursday October 24, 2024, by unanimous vote recommended approval of the Street Name Change.
The newspaper notice for the City Council hearing was published on March 3, 2025. Notices were sent on March 3, 2025, to 6 property owners notifying them of the proposed street name change. The City Council hearing is scheduled on March 26, 2025.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On August 8, 2024, the Subdivision Review Committee by unanimous vote recommended approval to the request to change the name of West Ledbetter Extension (West Ledbetter Ext.), between South Merrifield Road and Spur 408 to “Grady Niblo Road”.
On October 24, 2024, the City Plan Commission by unanimous vote recommended approval to the request to change the name of West Ledbetter Extension (West Ledbetter Ext.), between South Merrifield Road and Spur 408 to “Grady Niblo Road”.
On October 24, 2024, Staff recommends approval to the request to change the name of West Ledbetter Extension (West Ledbetter Ext. ) between South Merrifield Road and Spur 408 to “Grady Niblo Road”.
