Body
BACKGROUND
To meet growing passenger demand and support long-term development, Dallas Love Field Airport launched a comprehensive Master Plan in 2023. This twenty-year roadmap identifies critical infrastructure needs and has led to the creation of the Love Field Expansion Airport Program (LEAP); the most ambitious capital improvement in the airport’s history.
Among the projects included in LEAP is the Entrance Roadway Intersection Project, formally titled the Love Field Airport Alternate Entry Project. This project is designed to improve the airport’s primary access route from the surrounding roadway network, with a particular focus on Mockingbird Lane.
By enhancing the signalized intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Herb Kelleher Way at the airport’s southern entrance, the project will reduce security and operational risks associated with delayed entry and ensure more efficient access to the terminal.
The Dallas Love Field Entrance Roadway Intersection Project (Alternate Entry) grant was signed on October 22, 2025, and now the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development has informed the City, that they must sign a new agreement containing additional terms, but the agreement covers the same existing grant period, and no additional grant funds are provided.
