body
BACKGROUND
This proposed action is in response to written and verbal petitions from the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Airport and transportation-for-hire stakeholders to amend the transportation for hire taxi rates and fares due to the pandemic, the current cost of living and its effect on their business.
From their request, the Department of Aviation elicited input from transportation-for-hire stakeholders and asked for their comments via virtual meetings, as it pertained to the current inflation rate and cost to operate as a taxi service. A review of the minimum taxi rates and fares from multiple airports was conducted and it was determined that a taxi rate increase for DFW Airport was needed to better align with rate increase within the city of Dallas. Therefore, efforts were made to develop an updated taxi rate structure best suited for transportation-for-hire stakeholders.
