Body
BACKGROUND
Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is bringing its World Cup Tournament to the North Texas area this year. FIFA’s 2026 World Cup brings substantial economic benefits (projected $1.5-$2.1 billion) to Dallas through tourism, job creation, hospitality, and retail, along with major global exposure. Dallas will host a large Fan Festival and the International Broadcast Center. It enhances Dallas’ international profile, showcases its culture, and drives infrastructure improvements, along with the challenges of handling massive crowds and events.
Currently, Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) provide over 30 emergency medical services transport to area hospitals as dispatched through the 9-1-1 call. This agreement allows DFR to station a special event rescue at FIFA International Broadcast Center for the duration of the event. The paramedics’ time and the equipment used will be reimbursed.
The agreement will begin upon City Council approval through August 31, 2026.
