BACKGROUND
Dallas Water Utilities Department's (DWU) Stormwater Operations is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the City's drainage system. To accommodate the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Silver Line, Hillcrest Road was lowered and the Hillcrest Pump Station was constructed to provide flood mitigation and enhance public safety associated with these public improvements. The pump station is located at the prominent and highly visible intersection of McCallum Boulevard and Hillcrest Road. The proposed project includes an enclosure that will support Stormwater Operations by protecting critical drainage infrastructure and mitigating environmental impacts, including visual and noise effects, associated with the City's stormwater pump station. Jacobs Engineering Group, the project's retained consultant engineer, designed a house-like enclosure to surround the existing pump station equipment and reflect the architectural character of the adjacent residential area.
This action will authorize a construction services contract with Big Sky Construction Company, Inc. for the construction of the Hillcrest Road Pump Station House Project enclosure. The site is located at 17404 Hillcrest Road at the corner of Hillcrest Road and McCallum Boulevard across from the Northeast Dallas Police Substation.
