BACKGROUND

 

Approval of this action will authorize the City to submit applications for various grant opportunities designed to support and enhance public safety initiatives within the Dallas Police Department. These grants will provide critical funding to strengthen law enforcement operations, expand investigative capabilities, and support strategic programs aimed at crime prevention and reduction.

 

Grant-funded initiatives will assist the Department in addressing, solving, and preventing crime through improved resources, technology, training, and personnel support. In addition, these funds may support research-based and data-driven approaches that identify effective strategies, enhance investigative processes, and improve case clearance rates. Collectively, these efforts are intended to increase community safety, strengthen public trust, and improve the overall effectiveness of public safety services provided to residents and visitors throughout the City.
