BACKGROUND
The Request for Qualifications (CIZ24-PBW-3124) was issued on October 9, 2024 for Streets and Transportation Design Services for Special Projects. The consulting firm, Bridgefarmer & Associates, Inc. was selected following a qualifications-based selection process in accordance with the City of Dallas procurement guidelines.
The City is planning rehabilitation work on the existing bridge, which is 1,235 feet long and 52.7 feet wide and supported by steel I-beam girders on concrete piers. The project will involve removing and replacing the current deck, railings, lighting, and sidewalks. Work will also include repairing and repainting the steel superstructure, making targeted substructure repairs, and addressing needed roadway approach fixes. The scope will also cover traffic control plan options and associated costs, construction services, a construction schedule, and an engineer's estimate of construction.
This action will authorize a professional contract with Bridgefarmer & Associates, Inc. for the engineering design of Malcolm X Bridge over the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Central Rail Operating Facility Rail Yard, in an amount not to exceed $1,224,397.84.
