BACKGROUND

On August 24, 2022, the City Council authorized a contract with Freese and Nichols, Inc. to provide engineering evaluation and design of storm drainage and erosion control improvements at four locations including improvements for the Red Bird Branch Culvert near Red Bird Lane and Polk Street, Ash Creek - South Fork Channel at John West Road, Botham Jean Boulevard (South Lamar) Phase 2 - Pear, Mooney, Bannock Area, and 2921 Leeshire Drive. During the analysis and design of these projects, additional engineering services were identified to resolve current flooding issues for the Ash Creek - South Fork Channel at John West Road location and to address conflicts between proposed stormwater drainage improvements and existing large diameter water and wastewater mains at the Red Bird Branch Culvert near Red Bird Lane location.

Freese and Nichols Inc. has submitted an acceptable proposal to complete these additional engineering services and the Dallas Water Utilities Department recommends that the contract with Freese and Nichols Inc. be modified to include these additional services.
