Authorize a construction services contract for the installation of water and wastewater mains at 15 locations (list attached to the Agenda Information Sheet) - Douglas Dailey Construction, LLC, lowest responsible bidder of six - Not to exceed $8,363,025.00 - Financing: Water (Drinking Water) - TWDB 2022 Fund ($5,185,168.15) and Wastewater Capital Improvement F Fund ($3,177,856.85)

Body
BACKGROUND

This action will authorize a construction contract for the replacement of approximately 20,120 feet of water and wastewater mains. This includes the installation of approximately 10 feet of 4-inch, 680 feet of 6-inch, 5,920 feet of 8-inch, and 5,640 feet of 12-inch diameter water mains and 4,270 feet of 8-inch, 920 feet of 10-inch, 2,060 feet of 12-inch, and 620 feet of 16-inch diameter wastewater mains.

The existing water and wastewater mains were built between 1929 and 1984. These mains are identified to be aging and in need of replacement due to service interruptions and increased maintenance efforts. Some of these mains also need to be upsized to provide additional capacity to meet future demands. The installation of the proposed segments will improve the capacity of the water and wastewater systems, reduce maintenance costs, and minimize service interruptions.
