BACKGROUND

 

The Upper Trinity Basin Water Quality Compact Group consists of the four major providers of wastewater collection and treatment services in the upper Trinity River basin; Dallas Water Utilities, Trinity River Authority, North Texas Municipal Water District and the City of Fort Worth.  The purpose of this group is to facilitate cooperative monitoring, studies and related activities by its members, and shall be primarily interested in water quality, wastewater collection and treatment, discharge and reuse of reclaimed water, and related regulatory matters in the lower West Fork, lower East Fork, and main stem of the Trinity River.

 

The original Compact Group agreement was constituted in 1975 and it had a ten-year term. The agreement has since been renewed four times. The last agreement expires in 2021.
