BACKGROUND

Since 1967, the City of Dallas has worked with the TCEQ and its predecessor agencies to support clean air monitoring and enforcement of air quality regulations through a set of renewing contracts for services. There are currently three contracts under which TCEQ funds the City's Ambient Air Monitoring Group to monitor local air quality and to purchase and maintain necessary equipment.

This action addresses Contract No. 582-21-22370 which ensures the monitoring of biological contamination that could be associated with a bioterrorist attack on Dallas County. TCEQ supports the Department of Homeland Security National Whole Air Monitoring Network which began in February 2003 in Texas.
