BACKGROUND

The National League of Cities (NLC) is a national membership association, serving the interests of 19,000 cities, towns, and villages and their municipal professionals. NLC's goal is to proactively drive federal policy on behalf of cities and build effective and connected municipal leaders who elevate the quality of life for our nation.

Adam Bazaldua has served as the Dallas City Council Member for District 7 since 2019. He is the chair of the Quality of Life, Arts, and Culture Committee. As chair, he has worked on various topics have worked on various topics that seek to enhance the city's cultural offerings, regulate short-term rentals, and fight the opioid and fentanyl epidemic in the city of Dallas. He is a committee member of the Economic Development, Workforce, Education, and Equity, and Parks, Trails, and the Environment committee. He serves on the Regional Transportation Council for the North Central Texas Council of Governments, representing and advocating for Dallas' transportation needs. In 2021, Council Member Bazaldua was elected to the NLC's Hispanic Elected Local Officials (HELO) and Race and Equity and Leadership Council board. In 2023, he was elected as the Vice-Chair of the Large Cities Council and was appointed to the Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee.
