BACKGROUND
Subchapter D of Chapter 31 of the Texas Election Code provides that the City may contract with the county elections administrator for certain election services. Chapter 271 of the Texas Election Code provides that the City may enter into an agreement with other political jurisdictions that may be conducting elections on the same day in election precincts that can be served by common polling places.
The City of Dallas, Collin County, and other Collin County political jurisdictions will conduct elections on Saturday, May 6, 2023. This action authorizes the City to hold the election jointly with jurisdictions that share common polling places and contract with the Collin County Elections Department for election services, including the selection, training and compensation of precinct election judges, subject to the approval of the City and the other contracting authorities. Therefore, the City may only contract with Collin County Elections Department to handle only those polling places that are within their county.
