BACKGROUND
Former Office Assistant Mearion Harris with Dallas Water Utilities Department filed a Charge of Discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) against the City of Dallas, alleging that the City discriminated against her based on sex, disability, and pregnancy. The City and Ms. Harris have reached a proposed settlement at a Fact-Finding and Settlement Conference held by the EEOC to pay Ms. Harris $65,000.00 in exchange for a release of all claims, subject to City Council approval. Claimant is not represented by counsel.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
A confidential memorandum regarding this matter will be provided to the City Council on June 5, 2026.
