BACKGROUND

This action does not encumber funds; the purpose of a service price agreement is to establish firm pricing for services, for a specific term, which are ordered on an as needed basis according to annual budgetary appropriations. The estimated amount is intended as guidance rather than a cap on spending under the agreement, so that actual need combined with the amount budgeted will determine the amount spent under this agreement.

This service price agreement will provide canine and equine veterinary services for the Dallas Police Department. These services are necessary to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the canine and equine units. Veterinary services include medical care, emergency treatment, diagnostic testing, surgical procedures, vaccinations, boarding and other medically necessary services that cannot be performed in-house.

Due to the unpredictable nature of animal-related incidents and the need for timely medical intervention, the City relies on veterinary providers to ensure adequate coverage and availability for both canine and equine units.
