Body
BACKGROUND

Violence Intervention programming was identified as an area for investment under the Mayor's Task Force on Safe Communities and the City Manager's R.E.A.L. Change Plan. The Office of Housing and Community Empowerment (OHCE) currently administers two contracts that support these initiatives. Youth Guidance Inc., is contracted to provide a year-round curriculum with a focus on summer enrichment programming to youth following the "Becoming a Man & Working on Womanhood (BAM/WOW)" curriculum. Urban Specialists Inc. is also contracted to disrupt trends of violence and poverty by connecting families and victims to resources and deploying credible messengers and anchor changemakers to impact target areas and families.
