BACKGROUND

 

This item, on behalf of the Dallas Public Library, authorizes an amendment to an existing lease agreement with Central Congressional Church to extend the lease agreement for an additional 25 years for approximately 20,000 square feet of land located at 5600 Royal Lane. The 25 year extension will provide for the continued use as a parking lot for the Preston Royal Branch Library.

 

The 25 year extension will begin on September 25, 2024 through September 24, 2049.

 

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

 

On August 23, 1989, the City Council authorized a 25 year Lease Agreement by Resolution No. 89-2512.

 

On September 24, 2014, the City Council authorized the First Amendment to the Lease Agreement by Resolution No. 14-1610.

 

On June 5, 2019, the City Council authorized the Second Amendment to the Lease Agreement by Resolution No. 2019-0011.
