BACKGROUND

The City of Dallas was awarded a grant in the amount of $325,661.00 from the Federal Highway Administration's Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program administered by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the Zaragoza Elementary SRTS Pedestrian and Paving Improvements Project. The Project will construct bicycle and pedestrian improvements on the following roadways that enclose Ignacio Zaragoza Elementary School: Gaston Avenue to the northwest, North Prairie Avenue to the northeast, Main Street/Columbia Avenue to the southeast, and Alcalde Street to the southwest. Improvements will include widening/reconstructing existing sidewalks, as well as constructing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps, traffic calming features, crosswalks, signs, pedestrian signals, and other SRTS improvements.
