BACKGROUND

Fire Station No. 5 is an 8,500 square feet, three-bay, single-story facility that opened on March 26, 1979. The station serves approximately 4.53 square miles in the Pleasant Grove area of Southeast Dallas. The first-alarm district is predominantly residential, with several commercial occupancies. As the facility approaches 47 years of service, it requires significant repairs and upgrades to ensure continued operational functionality and to support the health, safety, and quality of life of the firefighters and Emergency Medical Services personnel assigned to the station.

The facility is experiencing foundation movement, including structural cracking and separation of building components, which has also impacted two 1,000-gallon aboveground storage tanks. The project will include investigation of the foundation issues, design and construction of necessary repairs, replacement of the affected tanks, and construction of a new supporting foundation system.

Additional improvements include kitchen renovations to meet current building and accessibility codes, replacement of outdated electrical panels to achieve code compliance, and evaluation and correction of plumbing systems following foundation stabilization. The need for foundation, kitchen, and...
